Key battle: Mesut Ozil against Xabi Alonso
Mesut Ozil, what a story. I heard about this player during the U21 European Championships in Sweden where he showed signs of being a quality player. I didn’t think that he would be so soon though. The way Mesut has played during this tournament makes me believe he is 31 and not 21. Mesut has a great left foot and the flair and creativity he has can make no one wonder why top clubs are interested in signing him. Rumours say top European clubs are willing to pay 25 million pounds to get him and I’m not surprised.
If Mesut is given a lot of space he can really hurt Spain, but I believe Xabi will be able to stop him.
Ballack's injury has given Mesut Ozil the chance. And how he has taken it!
Germany - Spain
Prediction: 0-2
I believe Germany have had a amazing tournament and after beating England and Argentina in the they did they perhaps deserve to be in the World Cup final. However with the last hurdle being Spain who are slowly growing into this tournament I think the Germans will lose today. What Loew has done at this team is remarkable and I can honestly say I believed they would actually struggle going through their group. I have never really rated their forward line Podolski- Klose – Muller but Loew has proved that a strong team where everyone knows their role and responsibility is more important to have the players with flair and special skills.
Against England and Argentina Germany knew that they could sit back and with deadly counter attacks destroy their oppositions. However as Spain will play completely different as they have a very narrow team who don’t leave as many open spaces this will be tougher for Germany. They will then have to try something else and as Spain have world class players on every position I think they will be to strong for Germany.
Will Spain lift it come Sunday?
And we're off...
So my first bet of the blogg will be Xavi to be man of the match at the odds 12.50.
Reason: I think Xavi is an extremely good player and he is really starting to get into this tournament. His flick against Portugal shows he is a man with flair and with Germany marking David Villa very tightely, this might "free" Xavi. And Xavi with freedom is dangerous.
Bet: Xavi to be FIFA Man of the Match
Stake: 20 Pounds Odds: 12.50
This time next year I'll be a millionaire
During the World Cup I have had some time off and decided to start a blogg. The aim of my blogg is kind of an expirement where I start with 400 pounds and see if I can make this into a fortune via some good bets. I will only be making bets on football and none of my bets will be of a serious amount. This is a long term project that I don't want to risk in one game, so mainly for fun the bets will be for 20 pounds or so.
Cheers,
Sam
